—[BEGINNING OF TRANSCRIPT] [Maria Ngo] I’m so thrilled and excited to be standing here next to Mr. Dave Austin and his background is absolutely astonishing. And Dave, I have no idea how to introduce you because you have done so much. You’ve accomplished so much. So do you mind sharing a little bit about your background? [Dave Austin] I’d love to… Well, first of all the biggest and most impressive is I’m a dad of four boys. So that takes the cake. Anything else is just minor to that. So I played professional tennis. So one time, I was a world ranked tennis player. I learned through a lot of my mistakes and year to learn how to mentally get over. Wish I had me when I was playing. I would have been better. But after that, I was privileged or honored enough to be in some really cool movies back in the ’80s; “Jagged Edge,” “Uncommon Valor” was on the TV miniseries called “Robert F. Kennedy, His Life and Times.” A lot of really neat things that I had a record out that actually became a picket and billboard called “play on” that was fun. And then in a… good friend of mine Philly Heart who founded the rock group, Kansas. We decided a friend of ours had come back with cancer, and we put on the first benefit concert. And it really surprised everybody. We had Queen, Santana… I mean, you name it. We had every major act. And so in 1990, or actually in ’89, the Grammys asked me to…to help them start the Grammy Foundation. So we had two unbelievable concerts. And then in ’91, I was fortunate enough to be given the Presidential Merit Award from the Grammys. So that’s the part of the background but my whole passion, my whole love, my whole life is really coaching. I’m a mental performance coach. And now I get a chance to work with NFL players, Major League Baseball players. I’ve had four guys who were stuck in Minor League Baseball become MVPs of the Major League Baseball team. It’s really honor. I went with the US Olympic team to the World Cup. And we had the best record ever. So a lot of good things. I’ve been working with the Army Rangers, Navy SEALs. I mean their mindsets off top. And now we’re about ready. We’re introducing a whole program that I’ve been worth with the Pentagon were working at bringing this training to the entire US Armed Forces. It means a lot to me, the whole US Armed Forces because my dad was a navy chaplain. He led the charge in Iwo Jima without a weapon. And so it was… It, this is really big for me. And then now, we just heard last week that the Minister of Education in Israel, they have taken the training and put it into Hebrew. And it’s now going into the school systems this fall in Israel. And that’s because our true champion is we have a frat of Nor. She heard me speak about two years ago. She says, “I want to take this to Israel.” And she’s someone standing. She’s been the champion against all the no’s, against all the reasons why it couldn’t happen. She brought it and made it happen. [Maria Ngo] Absolutely amazing! And on top of that, you, I don’t know where you found the time. You write a new book called “Be a Beast.” Yeah. So tell me about this phenomenal book. [Dave Austin] Okay, this this is I’m really proud of. I, my last book was Songwriting for Dummies. And it sold hundreds of thousands, but it wasn’t like what this book is to me. Because this is what I coach. And why is it “Be a Beast?” Because you know, we all have these incredible gifts in us. We…You know; we don’t know how to fully tap into. You know you can use your mind to work for you or against you. Most of us having our minds were against us. These have mind-triggers in them. You, with the animals, you have learned about the animals. So your retention of remembering in that moment of pressure, you remember it. So you can act upon it. So always puts you in the right action. And that is something I learned like being a professional athlete, you’re under pressure and you don’t remember anything in that moment. You go with your conditional habits. So with Be a Beast, with these mind-triggers, it helps you to in when you start to falter, you tapped right back into your focus points. And I’m blessed because of years ago, I met a man named Roger Anthony. Well, the greatest man I’ve ever met. He co-wrote this with me from Australia. He’s the one. I’ve been doing this for 20 years working with athletes. He’s the one that brought the animal triggers to it. Unfortunately, we lost Roger to cancer about two years ago. [Maria Ngo] I’m sorry. [Dave Austin] But, was… he’s doing amazing stuff from above now. The day this book came out, I woke up and it was already number one in Australia. I said, “Okay Roger, I know what you’re up to…” It went to number one in Japan, England, Germany, Canada, here in 22 different categories… So we’re blessed. It’s really been a neat experience to be a part of all these. [Maria Ngo] Well, congratulations to all your success. Where can people get the book? [Dave Austin] Well, the best places you know, here’s a plug for Amazon. Amazon, I mean, That is the place. And if you, if you think about, you want to go to http://beabeastbook.com. And there’s a little bit about the book and then you know you can just tap on right there and, and find out it will take your right there to get the book. [Maria Ngo] Well, congratulations on all your success and thank you for doing all that you do. If there’s one message that you would like to share with the world, what would that message be? [Dave Austin] I think the key is, is, is you know, so many of us live in to our conditions. Well, this is all I have. These are my conditions. Yet, instead of reacting to your conditions, create your conditions. I’m a full believer. It’s all on your mindset. There’s something goes wrong; it can work to your benefit. If you have the right mindset. So nothing ever goes wrong because you can create the conditions that oh my gosh! I didn’t know how beautiful this would and then how awesome this was! Because you, you go into oh gee! Why me? Rather than into going, oh! Okay. What can I learn from this? How can I grow from this? It’s one thing when I was a professional tennis player, I didn’t learn enough for my losses. You know, now when I work with athletes, we learn every single time. So if you lose, you never lose. You’re always gaining ground. Same thing in business. You know, you can have a tough day in business. But you know what? If you’re always growing you’re always learning from the experience, then everything becomes your advantage. Everything! And that’s probably the most important thing I think I could tell you tonight. [Maria Ngo] Well, thank you so much for joining us here tonight. Best wishes to you and I can’t wait to read the book. [Dave Austin] Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. [END OF TRANSCRIPT]
